Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Zen Pool mobile application (the "App") handles information. It is written to satisfy the disclosure requirements of the Google Play Data safety section, the Google Play Developer Program Policies, and applicable privacy laws including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and, where relevant, the EU/UK GDPR.

1. Who we are

Zen Pool is an independent Android app developed and published by its developer ("we", "us"). You can reach us at benmarshnz@gmail.com. We are the party responsible for the information practices described here.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically, the App:

• has no sign-up, login or user account;
• does not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, location or any similar data;
• does not contain analytics, tracking, advertising or crash-reporting software that would transmit data about you;
• in its standard release does not request internet access, and therefore has no means of sending your information anywhere.

Because we collect nothing and have no servers, we hold no profile, identifier or record about you.

3. Information stored on your device

To make the App work and remember your progress, Zen Pool saves a small amount of data locally on your device only, using Android's standard app-preferences storage. This includes:

• your high scores for each challenge;
• your deepest recorded dive (the "Depths" log);
• simple counters such as the number of dives or "sparks";
• your preferences (for example, sound, haptics and reduced-motion settings).

This information never leaves your device, is not readable by us, and is not linked to your identity. It is removed when you clear the App's storage or uninstall the App.

The App also reads your device's local clock so the visuals can subtly shift between day and night. This reading is used only in the moment, on your device — it is never recorded or transmitted.

4. Permissions & why we use them

• Prevent device from sleeping (wake lock): keeps the screen on while the App is open so the water does not dim or lock mid-fidget. No data is involved.
• Vibrate: drives the gentle haptic feedback that accompanies taps and breaths, where your device supports it. No data is involved.

The standard release build requests no internet permission and no access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage of your files, or device identifiers.

5. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise share your information, because we do not collect or hold any. No data is shared with third parties. We may disclose information only if we are legally compelled to — but as we hold no user data, there would be nothing to disclose.

6. Advertising & analytics

Zen Pool currently shows no advertising and uses no analytics. There are no third-party advertising or measurement SDKs in the App.

We may add advertising to a future version. If and when we do:

• we will update this Privacy Policy before that version is released, and update the App's Google Play "Data safety" disclosures to match;
• we will name the advertising provider(s) we use (for example, Google AdMob) and link to their privacy policies;
• we will explain what those providers collect — typically device/advertising identifiers and app-usage information used to serve and measure ads — and how you can opt out or reset your advertising ID; and
• where consent is legally required (for example, for personalised ads in the EU/UK), we will request it in the App before any such data is collected.

Until that happens, none of the above applies and no advertising data is collected.

7. Retention & deletion

Since all App data lives only on your device, you control it entirely. To erase it, clear the App's storage in your Android settings, or uninstall the App. We retain nothing on our side because we never receive anything.

8. Security

Your App data is protected by Android's standard per-app storage sandbox, which keeps it private to the App on your device. As no information is transmitted or stored on any server, there is no online repository of your data to be breached.

9. Children's privacy

Zen Pool is suitable for a general audience. It collects no personal information from anyone, and therefore knowingly collects none from children. It contains no ads, no purchases, no chat and no external links within gameplay. If you believe a child has somehow provided us personal information, contact us — though, by design, the App has no way to receive or store it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information. Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side; you can remove all locally stored data yourself at any time as described in section 7. 11. International users

The App processes data only on your own device, wherever you are. No cross-border transfer of your data to us or any third party takes place.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves (for example, if advertising is introduced). We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, highlight them through the App or its store listing. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

13. Google Play data-safety summary

For clarity, and to mirror the App's Google Play "Data safety" disclosures as of the date above:

• Data collected: none.
• Data shared with third parties: none.
• Data stored: on your device only (scores, settings, progress); not transmitted.
• Encryption in transit: not applicable — no data is transmitted.
• Data deletion: handled by you, by clearing app storage or uninstalling.
• Ads: none at present (this section will be updated if that changes).
